And a Note from Dr. Hap Struthers
Dear friends,
Faith Bible College is entering into one of its greatest opportunities for responding to Jesus’ command: Go and make disciples of all nations. God has opened the doors through the technology of Zoom to share His Word in several foreign countries. When Jesus was walking toward the Garden of Gethsemane on the night before His crucifixion, He said to His disciples, You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and appointed you that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain (John 15:16). The word remain implies multiplication. Moreover, in that same verse, Jesus gives an amazing prayer promise: Whatever you ask in My name the Father will give it to you. This promise is not a general prayer promise but a dynamic promise in connection with fruitfulness in ministry. For years, we have been asking the Lord to multiply the outreach of the Bible College, and God is answering in spectacular ways. For example, this semester I am teaching a class on Intimacy with God: the Names and Attributes of God. I have four full-time national workers in the class, one each from Kenya, Nigeria, Peru, and Brazil, as well as a missionary in Papua, New Guinea. I also have a lady in Venezuela in my class and a Navy commander aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. These are in addition to several staff members with International Students Inc. who are working with international students on university campuses here in the U.S. In his letter, President Newman has shared other global doors God is opening. We are claiming that these classes will spread the life-changing Gospel and the knowledge of the glory of the Lord throughout the world. What an open door God is placing before FBC.
To carry out Christ’s great commission God has given us godly faculty members who likewise share this vision of broadcasting the knowledge of God throughout the world. As you know, our world is in turmoil and the only remedy is the Lord Jesus and a true knowledge of God. Our majestic and holy mission statement is found in Habakkuk 2:14, The whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the earth. In Hosea 4:6 God states, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Even we Christians do not know God as intimately as we should. As a result, many of us are failing to fulfill God’s command: Go make disciples of all nations. God is opening amazing doors to enable us to obey, and we MUST enter these doors. I am 96 years old, and I am asking you personally to come alongside me and our team to charge ahead. The harvest is plenteous; the laborers, few! Help us train laborers for this ripened harvest through your effectual prayers and sacrificial gifts.
How we thank God for each of you who have faithfully prayed for FBC and financially supported us on a regular basis. We are facing unusual financial challenges at this time which our FBC President has explained in his letter. We ask for your generous help as we expand globally and strive to effectively make disciples to both edify His church and reap the needy harvest. Thank you for your partnership with us.
Pressing on,
Hap
